The children in the Reception classes (age 4 and 5) discussed their rights!

1. First, they discussed the necessities needed to survive.

'We need jacket' - Lydia

'We need an EtonHouse' - Cayden

'We need socks' - Yuna

2. Next, they began to incorporate the word 'right'

'We have the right to play' - Morgen

'We have the right to eat' - Lydia

3. Children took their vocabulary home, demonstrating what they learned to their parents.

‘Children need to sleep and eat, we need energy to grow up, up, up' - Vincent

‘Children need toys to play and have fun’ -Gaby

‘I need to have fun, so I can be a happy girl’ –Deborah

‘Children need shoes, outside of home is very dirty’ -Emily 

The children built on the definition of the word ‘rights’. They described it as: ‘something all children need to have’.

Then they listed the things all the children need to have some of the things they came up with were:

- ‘a name’

- ‘shoes’

- ‘a house’

- ‘to be happy’
