In Design and Technology, the Middle Year students explored the basic physics of bridges. The goal was that the students would develop an understanding through experimentation of which shapes were the strongest structurally, and that many factors are taken into account in engineering and building. 

This activity provided a practical application of physics to real-world contexts.

Using this framework the students are all engineers and write their plan for what type of bridge they build and what shapes they plan on using. 

They drew the blueprint of their bridge on graph paper and recorded the steps they took to build their bridges.
